Puerto Rican Education and Social Justice: Promoting Transformative and Emancipatory Forms of Knowledge
This one day symposium seeks to explore the past and imagine a future where education moves beyond the reproduction of inequality and serves as a means to empower Puerto Ricans and other historically marginalized groups to further promote transformative and emancipatory forms of knowledge in practice in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. It serves as precursor to the 12th Puerto Rican Biennial Conference to be held in October of 2016 at the U of Maryland, College Park.
The morning session will be devoted to national or regional issues, while the afternoon session will be more focused on the National Latino Education Research Agenda Project (NLERAP) in the Chicago Puerto Rican community.
